North Palm Beach, FL –  On Sunday, November 24th at 1:00pm, Kijana Educational Empowerment Initiative (KEEI), founded by James Cummings and Bruce Huber, will host their 11th annual cultural event, KijanaFest which will kick off the “Your Book Needs a Shelf” fundraising campaign. KijanaFest will be held at West Palm Beach Waterfront Lake Pavilion, located at 101 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.

Last year, KijanaFest kicked off a book drive to collect 10,000 books.  To date, KEEI has collected more than 5,000 books that now need a shelf.  KijanaFest was started 11 years ago to raise funds for educational programs in Kenya and here in Florida. KEEI has assisted over 25 schools in Kenya, including the $125,000 investment in the redevelopment of the Mwituha Secondary School, now home to over 280 students.  This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000 to build book shelves for the 5,000 plus books and purchase tables, chairs and other equipment for the library.

KijanaFest offers a wide range of activities, raffles, and live musical performances by local Kenyan band, Positively Africa.  Attendees will experience cultural foods, which is included with their ticket, and can purchase Kenyan arts and crafts. There will be bounce houses and face painting for the kids. KijanaFest serves as a cultural venue for the community, and is KEEI’s primary fundraiser.

Tickets are $5 for children, $20 for adults, and $40 for families and can be purchased by calling 561-312-1968 or online, https://www.eventbrite.com/event/8482915629?utm_source=eb_email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=new_eventv2&utm_term=eventurl_text
