Riviera Beach, FL (February 22, 2017) – The Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (RBCRA) in partnership with the American Red Cross, along with Riviera Beach Fire Department, Riviera Beach Police Department, Riviera Beach Community Development Corporation, Riviera Beach Resource Center, and the Southside Coalition/Concerned Mothers, will host their Home Fire Campaign on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the West Riviera Elementary School, located at 1057 W. 6th Street, Riviera Beach.

The campaign aims to install critical smoke alarms in homes in the Riviera Beach Heights neighborhood, located from Martin Luther King Boulevard to 1st Street, between Australian Avenue and President Barak Obama Highway. Companies and community residents are cordially invited to volunteer and join the ‘Home Fire Preparedness Team’ to assist with the testing and installation.

Volunteers will work in teams with experienced American Red Cross volunteers during the Home Fire Safety visits to test existing smoke alarms, replace batteries, install new smoke alarms, and share lifesaving home safety information. Other volunteering positions available include managing registration table and sign-in sheets, food service, and distribution of supplies.

“Fire safety is essential to saving lives and we focus on protecting our community,” said Annetta Jenkins, director of
Neighborhood Services at the Riviera Beach Community Redevelopment Agency. “These smoke alarm tests and
installation will prevent future fire related accidents, injuries and home losses.”

The Home Fire Preparedness Team will begin home safety visits at 8:45 a.m. Continental breakfast will be served at 7:45 a.m. before orientation and lunch will be served in the afternoon. All installation supplies will be provided.
